Azhar Harun candidate for Dewan Rakyat speaker, Azalina deputy

The government will propose Datuk Azhar Azizan @ Harun as the 10th Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat to replace Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof at the Dewan Rakyat sitting tomorrow.

Based on the Order and Motions (AUM DR 13/7/2020) uploaded on the official website of the Parliament of Malaysia, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will propose the matter after asking Mohamad Ariff to vacate his post.

The motions listed as no. 2 and 3 in the order, also listed a motion for Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming to vacate his seat as the Deputy Speaker.

The Prime Minister will also propose the name of Pengerang Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said as the successor to Kor Ming.

All the motions are made under Meeting Rules 4 (1) and 6 (2), Regulations of the Meeting of the Dewan Rakyat.

The six members proposed by the government are Gombak MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali; Larut MP, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin; Bagan Datuk MP Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi; Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Marang MP, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, and Port Dickson MP, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
