Despite a comment posted on Twitter by Balik Pulau Member of Parliament, Mohd Yusmadi Yusoff saying he will not be contesting in the next general election, PKR Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali said the decision is not final yet.

“That might be his (Yusmadi) opinion on his Twitter account, but the party will decide the candidates.

“Candidates who will be contesting in Penang will be announced by the Opposition Leader (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) today, including the seats that he will be contesting,” said Azmin at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

Commenting on the announcement of PKR candidates, Azmin said it will be decided by the end of this week.

“PKR, PAS and DAP will be having a few meetings to finalise the seats. I am confident this will be settled in a good way,” he added.

Azmin added, this time the candidates will be selected carefully to avoid party hopping from happening again like in GE-12 in 2008.

According to him, PKR will choose candidates who have what it takes and are committed to the party.
