Baby dies, father seriously injured in two-car collision

A five-month-old baby girl was killed and her father seriously injured after their car was involved in an accident at KM41 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu near Kampung Sungai Tong, Sunday morning.

In the 10.10am incident, Nurul Akma Azmi, from Taman Tampoi Utama Johor, died on the spot due to severe head injuries, while her father Azmi Mat, 47, suffered a serious injury to his right leg while two other family members sustained minor injuries.

The victim's car was believed to have collided with another car, driven by Muhammad Amirullah Ramlan, 21, from the direction of Kuala Terengganu.

Muhammad Amirullah suffered severe injuries to his right leg besides a broken rib while six other family members suffered minor injuries.

Setiu district acting police chief DSP Idris Mohamad, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

He said Nurul Akma's body was taken to the Setiu Hospital for post-mortem and all the other victims were also being treated at the same hospital.
