About 1,500 fishermen in Perlis have returned to the sea to resume their routine, as the haze begins to clear.

State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman, Mat Hassan said the fishermen started going to the sea three days ago, after a break of nearly two weeks due to the haze that impaired visibility at sea.

Speaking to Bernama on Wednesday, Mat Hassan who is also Kuala Perlis state assemblyman said the rain over several days had cleared the haze.

"I hope the fishermen will start saving and manage their expenses prudently so as not to face financial difficulties when unable to go out to sea," he said.

Mat said most of the fishermen had to rely on the RM300 monthly living allowance given by the government during the two weeks' break.
