Backbencher wants mandatory training for babysitters
Monitoring of baby-sitters must also be intensified to stop child abuse from happening.
A backbencher has called for mandatory training for babysitters, whether are they registered with the Welfare Department or not.
Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (BN-Masjid Tanah) said monitoring of babysitters must also be intensified to stop child abuse from happening.
"Baby-sitters must be made to undergo training from a month up to three months and obtain certification, failing which they must not be allowed to provide babysitting services," she said when debating the Supply Bill 2015 in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
On Wednesday, in KEPALA BATAS, Penang, a woman who made a surprise visit to a babysitter's house was shocked to find her three-year-old son lying on the floor with his hands and feet bound.
According to police, his 39-year old babysitter, who has been arrested, had claimed the boy was "difficult to control".
The Dewan sits again on Monday.
