The bodies of four Malaysians killed in Monday's bomb blast in Bangkok, Thailand arrived at the Penang International Airport (LTAPP) in Bayan Lepas near here on Wednesday night.
The bodies of Lim Siew Gaik, 49; son-in-law Lee Tze Siang, 33; son, Neoh Jai Jun, 20; and four-year-old grand-daughter Lee Jing Xuan were brought from Bangkok on a Thai Airways TG 425 aircraft which arrived at 11pm.
Seen accompanying the bodies was Siew Gaik's daughter, Neoh Yee Ling, 33, who was unscathed in the blast. About 20 family members waited at the LTAPP Cargo Complex since 9pm.
Others who turned up to accompany the bodies were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Mah Siew Keong, Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Penang Umno Liaison Committee secretary Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir and state Barisan Nasional leaders.
Siew Gaik's husband, Neoh Hock Guan, 55, who was also unharmed in the incident had arrived at their house in Taman Dedap, Butterworth at 5.30pm today.
Gloom enveloped the cargo complex when the family members were spotted crying and attempting to avoid a group of reporters and photographers who were waiting in the compound of the complex.
Members of the media failed to interview them as they hurriedly departed in their vehicles.
It is understood the bodies will be sent to the Penang Hospital before being taken home to Taman Dedap, Butterworth and Kampung Selamat, Kepala Batas.
In the bomb blast at 7pm (8pm Malaysian time), the four Malaysians were killed and three others injured at the Ratchaprasong junction near the Erawan Shrine and shopping centres in Bangkok.
Two of the injured Malaysians were identified as Tan Eui Hun, 29, and Tan Kim Siok, 52, both from Kelantan.
