A Bangladeshi factory worker was found charred in a box processing factory fire in Ringlet, Cameron Highlands early today.
Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Station chief, Muhammad Haziq Hazmi said the victim identified as Md Hanip Kazi, 36, was found at about 8am under a pile of zinc and iron bed in the workers' quarters at the factory.
He said the station received a call on the incident at about 4.05am before 19 firemen rushed to the location.
"Based on initial information, a worker did not emerge from the factory before firefighters carried out a search."A colleague of the victim later showed the place the victim was last seen and found the victim charred," he said when contacted here today.
Muhammad Haziq said the victim's body was later handed over to police for further investigations.
He said the factory was completely razed and the estimated amount of losses was about RM1.5 million," he said. - BERNAMA
