Bank executive charged with insulting woman's modesty

A marketing executive of a bank here was charged at the Magistrate's Court today with outraging the modesty of a real estate agent by recording a video up her skirt, last Friday.

Lim Zheng Xian, 23, however, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read before Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som.

He was alleged to have committed the offence against the 24-year-old woman on an escalator in the Mid Valley Shopping Mall here, at 8 pm on Aug 4.

The charge, under Section 509 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum jail sentence of up to five years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The court set bail at RM4,000 with one surety and fixed Sept 11 for mention.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin asked the court to set bail at RM7,000, however, Lim, who was unrepresented, appealed for a minimum bail on the grounds that he was supporting his parents.
