KUALA LUMPUR: The Bantuan Wang Ihsan (BWI) benevolent fund will be coordinated at the State Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB) with the cooperation of the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department.
The matter was decided in a meeting of the Post-Flood Management and Preparedness for Second Wave Flood Disaster Task Force today chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and coordinated by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).
The National Disaster Control Centre (NDCC) of NADMA in a statement announced that the channeling of aid would be implemented in three ways, namely cash handover at state PKOB, cash handover from house to house or via online transfer.
"The BWI amounting to RM1,000 is for the head of households (KIR) and RM10,000 for the next of kin of victims who died in the disaster have been channeled to the state and as of today, an allocation of RM34 million was channeled to states based on estimates made by the state PKOB involved," according to the statement.
NADMA said monsoon surge is expected to place in the Significant Weather Forecast warning for Dec 28 to Jan 3 2022 by the Meteorological Department of Malaysia (MetMalaysia).
Apart from that, it has the potential to cause continuous rain in eastern Sabah, until Jan 2 2022 and the west of Sarawak from Dec 29 to 31.
"Strong winds and rough seas in the east coast waters of the Peninsula, north Sarawak and Sabah is expected to continue until Jan 2 next year.
