The remains of Tan Saw Sim, 55, her son Chung Wah Thong, 28, and two-year-old grandson Chung Ay Dey, who were shot dead at a chicken processing factory in Batu Maung last Wednesday, were cremated at Batu Gantung Crematorium, here, at noon today.
Tan Yen Jun, the mother of Ah Dey and wife of Wah Thong tried hard to keep her composure and nearly broke down as their bodies were being cremated.
Hundreds of family members, including Wah Thong's father and Saw Sim's ex-husband, his elder sister Chung Lee Ping, 37, and friends came to pay their last respects to the deceased as the bodies were brought from the funeral parlour to the crematorium.
Before being cremated, Wah Thong's remains were brought to the Penang Turf Club as he was a jockey.
Lee Ping was having a tough time sending her mother and brother away and had to be calmed down by her family members.
Chung Ji Lian, 33, a close family member to Yen Jun said that he was still in shock over the incident and it would be a tough few months for his family.
"It will be hard but we have to carry on. Yen Jun still has a child to take care of and all of us are here to give them all the support they need," he said.
The other shooting victim who was Tan's partner, Toh Hock Choon, 50, was buried at Sungai Dua cemetery, Friday morning.
On Thursday, police shot the sole shooting suspect, Chung Chun Wah, 32, son of Saw Sim and brother of Wah Thong after a shootout between him and police, near Air Itam market.
The body of Chun Wah was cremated on Friday with his sister Lee Ping forgiving him for his action although she had initially found it hard to forgive him.
