Behind the Wheel Episode 2 Part 2
What will Behind the Wheel’s Dynamic Duo find at the end of the trail? Another challenge that’s what. By Jerrica Leong
In Part 1, we left off with DC and Jay Menon getting the Ford Kuga ready to take on off-road connoisseur Lionel’s challenge. But the main worry is, the Kuga is a two-wheeler rather than a standard four-wheeler. So how did the SUV fair in the harsh conditions?
As we mentioned in Part 1, many people had forgotten that an SUV is actually built to have off-roading abilities thanks to the high ground clearance. The Kuga is no different, bet you’re all still surprised when we even suggested that we said we’re throwing the SUV back into its natural habitat!
Luckily for DC, Jay had stayed calm the entire time she took on the trails, though the group joked that her neck had grown a few inches when they arrive at their destination. The Kuga had arrived unharmed at the end of the trail and not a speck of mud to marl the SUV’s looks. Looks like Lionel had been lenient on the two city dwellers. But the off-trail is not the biggest challenge of the day. The Dynamic Duo was tasked to start a fire without the help of matches or lighters! I know, the horror! It wasn’t until later they found out that starting the fire with no modern tools was not the hardest part, the hardest part is keeping the fire alive. Too bad for them, the weather had been too humid that they had to admit defeat.
It was fun watching the Kuga take on whatever the Isuzu Dmax had to throw at it and show us that SUVs are meant to be taken off-road once in a while. Next episode we head back to the 1960s with two beautiful classics that made a name for themselves, one for its reliability and rarity and another for its victories in rallying. Be sure to catch the next episode when it premieres.
