Benjy, accomplice face drug trafficking charge

Actor Khaeryll Benjamin Ibrahim and his accomplice Raja Sharif Hidayatullah Shariffudin were today charged in a Magistrate's Court here for drug trafficking.
Khaeryll Benjamin, 37 or better known as Benjy and Raja Shariff, 27 were accused of having 1.32kg methamphetamine when stopped at a police roadblock in front of a petrol station in Jalan Pagoh-Muar at 1:40am, on March 27.
No plea was recorded from both.
They were charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which is punishable under Section 39B (2) of the same Act.
If convicted they could be sentenced to death.
Both accused who were present at the court, nodded in comprehension when the charge was read to them in front of Magistrate Mohd Shafiq Mustaza.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Shukri Hussain prosecuted while Benjy and Raja Shariff were represented by defence counsel Aqeeb Lizalman Nordin Zamery and Farhan Read.
Mohd Shafiq fixed May 28 for mention.
