Bera UMNO Youth today lodged a police report seeking action against a Penang assemblyman for having insulted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Its head, Mohd Zoolihsan Ahmad, made the report at the Bera district police headquarters against Machang Bubuk assemblyman Lee Khai Loon over the latter's use of the 'kangkung' issue to belittle Najib.
He also described Lee's action as rude and an insult to the people and the nation.
Bera Wanita UMNO head Zanariah Sahadan and Bera Puteri UMNO head Salmiah Abdul Rahman had also accompanied Mohd Zoolihsan to the police station.
Najib had cited the kangkung (water spinach) as an example when talking about the fluctuation of prices of goods depending on demand and supply.
Mohd Zoolihsan said the authorities, particularly the Home Ministry, should act firmly in the matter.
Salmiah said if no action was taken, such insults would take place in the future.
