Bersih 4 organisers silent on account of public donations

4 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah, however, said the total amount of money collected from the public was about RM2.45 million.
"They (police) have asked us about the donations, the account, whether we advertised in the social media and how much we used it.
"We did not answer all the questions, as we have the right to remain silent under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code. We will answer all the questions if they charge us in court," she told reporters after giving her statement to the police in Bukit Aman, here, on the Bersih 4 rally.
Maria was among seven individuals called by police to Bukit Aman Wednesday to assist in the investigation into the rally, which was held over the weekend.
The others who were also called to Bukit Aman Bersih 4 deputy chairman Huda, its treasurer Masjaliza Hamzah, committee members Farhana Halim and Fadiah Nadwa, secretariat member Mandeep Singh and student activist Adam Adli.
Maria said they were also asked by police about the content of their media statement on July 29 related to the rally.
"We were questioned under three sections, namely Section 120, 124C and 141 of the Penal Code," she said.
Maria also said that the would not take any responsibility for the incident where some Bersih 4 participants had stomped on the picture of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
She said the stomping of the picture was not part of the Bersih 4 and that they were against such action and did not support those involved in the incident.
