Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah was released today after being incarcerated for 11 days under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 or SOSMA.

An insider from the police confirmed this to Astro AWANI.

“Maria was released at 4.45pm on Monday,” said the source.

Meanwhile, her lawyer Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan also confirmed Maria Chin's release on her Twitter account.

“Our dear friend Maria has been set free! Praise God! She is with me and is well,” said Ambiga.

Maria, 60, was detained under SOSMA on the eve of the Bersih 5.0 rally which was held in the federal capital last Saturday.

On Nov 22, she filed a habeas corpus application at the High Court, seeking her immediate release from the detention.

The court had set Nov 29 to hear the application.
