Over the past week we’ve been treated to fashion wonders, Kimye sightings and pretty remarkable clothes on show as well. New York Fashion Week concluded a few days ago and here is our BIG 6 fashion designers that drew a crowd and gave an unforgettable show!

Marc Jacobs gave one of the largest shows of NYFW at the Ziegfeld theatre, bringing us old Hollywood vibes. The star-studded model line-up included Kendall Jenner, runway newbie Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid. Marc Jacobs brought sequins, super high slits, varsity jackets, car wash pleats and peak-a-boo hot pants to his latest collection. To define the collection, we would say it is a mix of downtown rock ‘n’ roll and rough glamour with a party aesthetic.

Oscar de la Renta really presented Latin ancestry in his latest Spring/Summer 2016 collection with the help of new creative director, Peter Copping. The collection seemed fixated on Latin signatures which include vivacious crimson colours, black lace, Carmen pumps, flamenco flounces and matador beading. Oscar de la Renta’s latest offering is extravagant, stunning and blends embroidery, luxe textiles and ornate lace effortlessly together.

Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection had sun-kissed models walk down the runway in Caribbean chic outfits. Gigi Hadid wore a crochet bikini and the other models donned bucket hats, and breezy looks that were reminiscent of Malibu or a music festival in the ‘60s. Picture palm trees, Bob Marley playing in the background and beachy locks. The standout pieces were the tropical prints, crochet string tops and the pyjama suits.

Michael Kors’ Spring/Summer 2016 collection brought together romanticism and femininity with oversized gabardine trench coats, crushed cotton utility jackets and trousers that created an earthy elegance. The pleating and folding added sophistication to the movement and the rustic colours alternated with pastel shades to produce a naturally refined style.

Calvin Klein incorporated a loose, carefree silhouette that flaunted minimalism in its latest collection, with distressed edges, chains, wispy light slips and trails of ribbon flowing behind satin ensembles. The slip dresses with delicate chains that draped around the shoulder straps and bodices certainly stood out.

Ralph Lauren’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection was a combination of the French Riviera and Paris during springtime. Bold graphic maxi dresses and wide palazzo pants came down the runway, along with a ball gown in stripes and plenty of preppy shirts. Ralph Lauren brought French chic to New York City with French-inspired striped shirts and evening gowns.
