Anticipating an increase of participation from non-Malays at the Red Shirt 2.0 rally, the peaceful assembly is expected be held at the same venue and day as Bersih 5.
“A total of 40 per cent of the participants will be made up of Chinese,” Red Shirt rally organiser, Datuk Jamal Md Yunos said a total of 40 per cent of the participants will be made up of the Chinese.
“I have discussed the matter and they (Chinese) have agreed to be with us,” Jamal told reporters at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.
Jamal also added that he expects a participation of 300,000 people at the Red Shirt rally 2.0
“We kid you not about the matter. After so many Bersih rallies, we are still wondering why they are held? They are non-beneficial to the rakyat,” said Jamal.
When asked about permit issuance from the police, Jamal said he will wait for the next course of action from Bersih organisers.
“If they adhere to the laws, we will do the same. If not, we will still follow,” he added.
On Aug 3, Bersih 2.0 announced that it will be organising Bersih 5, the fifth iteration of the peaceful rally urging immediate solution to the issues surrounding the government strategic investment company, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) following the civil lawsuits filed by the United States (US) Department of Justice (DOJ) in July.
However, Bersih chairman Maria Chin Abdullah said that no date had been fixed yet.
