BMW 3 series gets a mid-life refresh

The ever popular premium sedan goes through a mid-life refreshment with new engines and new faces to offer. BMW Group Malaysia is offering up four different variants, the BMW 318i, the BMW 320i, the BMW 320d and the introduction of the BMW 330i which comes equipped with the extra-dynamic Sport Line, exclusive and elegant luxury of the all-new premium sports sedan.

What’s different on the new BMW 3 Series? Here’s you answer.

The new BMW 3 Series still features the hallmark BMW sculpted long bonnet, long wheelbase and 50:50 weight distribution but it also sports newly redesigned headlights and LED indicators that are now positioned as “eyebrows” above the headlights.
LED fog lights now come standard when owners choose to spruce up their 3-ers with the M Sport package.
In the rear, the rear lights have been upgraded to full LED units arranged in the distinctive BMW “L” shape with a heavier curve.
The 3-er now comes with new twin tailpipes measuring 70mm in diameter for both 320 variants and the 330i variant while the 318i receives a larger single tailpipe with a 75mm diameter.

New wheel rims have been installed on all variants, the BMW 318i gets the 17-inch light alloy Multi-spoke wheels, the BMW 320i Sport Line sports 17-inch alloy Multi-spoke V-rims, the BMW 320 variants with M Sport comes with 18-inch M light alloy Star-spoke wheels and the BMW 330i M Sport gets the 18-inch M light alloy Double-spoke wheels.
The BMW 318i now comes with the award winning TwinPower Turbo 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which produces a max output of 136bhp and 220Nm of torque. It does the century sprint in 8.9 seconds and has a recorded fuel consumption number of 5.1-litres per 100km and 119g/km CO2 emission.
BMW is proud to announce that the BMW 320i comes complete with the brand new 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which generates 184bhp and 290Nm managing the century sprint in 7.2 seconds.

The BMW 330i also has the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine under its bonnet. But in the 330i the engine generates a bigger 252bhp power output and 350Nm allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 5.8 seconds.
This brand new lightweight all-aluminium engine not only provides excellent performance but also exemplary fuel efficiency as well with a recorded average fuel consumption of 5.58-litre per 100km for the 320i and 6.1-litres per 100km for the 330i. CO2 emission levels are recorded at 128g/km and 143g/km respectively.
BMW’s 320d on the other hand comes complete with the latest four-cylinder diesel engine which delivers a maximum output of 190bhp and a max torque of 400Nm. It boasts sprint numbers of 7.2 seconds from standstill and has a fuel consumption reading of 4.0-litres per 100km while CO2 emissions stand at 106g/km.

Of course, all 3-er variants comes equipped with Auto Start/Stop Function and Brake Energy Regeneration to help keep the fuel consumption numbers low.
BMW has also gifted the new 3 Series stiffer suspensions thanks to some tinkering with the damping system giving the car an even more precise steering system with even more road feedback.
The chassis settings has also been reset to provide an even more dynamic driving experience and improved cornering behaviour while maintaining the same unparalleled ride comfort.

M Sport suspensions are available for both 320 variants with M Sport while the top of the range 330i M Sport will get the Adaptive M Suspension.
A brand new BMW ConnectedDrive was introduced with the introduction of the BMW X1 but BMW is introducing another new feature on the BMW Connected Drive with the 3 Series. The system now comes with the option to insert a SIM card into the vehicle to easily connect to the Concierge Service.
There is also the option to connect to Intelligent Emergency Call, where the 3 Series will connect to the BMW Call Centre in the event the airbags has been triggered.
The ConnectedDrive app also features a new BMW Online Office which uses the on-board SIM card to enable the reading, writing and sending of emails from within the vehicles.

Five colours are available for the BMW 318i Luxury line, namely Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral Grey, Imperial Blue and Platinum Silver. All five colours are also made available for the BMW 320i, 320d and 330i M Sport with an additional option known as Estoril Blue. The BMW 320i Sport line receives comes with the options of Alpine White, Mineral Grey, Glacier Silver, Melbourne Red and Mediterranean Blue.

Pick from a range of Leather Dakota upholstery with colour choices of Black, Saddle Brown and Oyster/ Black to match the choice of exterior colour on the new BMW 3 Series.
