All Barisan Nasional (BN) component party leaders today expressed their full support to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the Prime Minister and the party's chairman.
Speaking on behalf of the other leaders who were also present, MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the component parties also backed Najib's leadership in implementing the national transformation programmes to drive the country in achieving its mission to become developed nation in 2020.
"We stand behind him all the way and are confident in his leadership," he told a press conference at parliament, here today.
Besides Liow, MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem, Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Kiong, People's Progressive Party (PPP) president Datuk M. Kayveas and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan were present at the press conference.
Also present were Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Teo Chee Kang, United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organization (Upko) acting president Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau, Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing dan Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Liow said the decision was made by all component party leaders following a meeting earlier today.
Commenting on the matter, Adenan said the decision was made unanimously and "to avoid any unnescessary speculation on BN".
Asked on the hudud law on Muslims in Kelantan today, Liow said; "the Prime Minister will give a statement on the matter tomorrow."
The Kelantan State Legislative Assembly on Thursday passed a bill that provides for the application of the hudud laws on Muslims upon its implementation.
All the 44 members of the assembly voted in favour of the Syariah Criminal Code (II) 1993 (Amendment 2015) Bill.
