BN expects more split in opposition coalition - Tengku Adnan

On May 11, PAS Syura Council secretary Datuk Dr Mohd Nik Zawawi Salleh announced that PAS had terminated its tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) with PKR.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) expects to see more split in the opposition coalition ahead of the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).
Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the breaking up of PAS-PKR was expected as the parties could not get along.
"They (opposition) formed the coalition because of their ego. When they could not achieve what wanted (when forming it) , they form a new party.
"How can we trust people who are disheartened and angry (when forming a party). Therefore, I believe that more split is coming," he told reporters when asked to comment on the split between PAS and PKR.
Earlier, Tengku Adnan who is also Putrajaya Member of Parliament attended the Negaraku@Komuniti Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya 2017, here today.
When asked how to strengthen BN in the GE14 as the coalition could face new scenario with the presence of a third force, Tengku Adnan said the coalition is working very hard.
"I cannot tell you, it is our secret," said Tengku Adnan, who is also UMNO secretary-general.
On May 11, PAS Syura Council secretary Datuk Dr Mohd Nik Zawawi Salleh announced that PAS had terminated its tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) with PKR.
It was reported that the decision was made after PKR was deemed to have breached many conditions of the political cooperation, which was based on Islamic principles.
Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said BN and UMNO will restructure their machinery and political strategies to face the new political scenario following the PAS-PKR split as more three-cornered flights are expected in GE14. -- Bernama
