PAS has been unceremoniously told to back off from contesting in the Kuala Besut by election by Barisan Nasional (BN).

Kuala Besut BN deputy election director Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh used the upcoming Ramadhan month to nudge the notion for an uncontested win further.

He said Ramadhan is a holy month and thus, must be respected instead of carrying out politicking.

"If you (PAS) respect your BN friends, don't contest," he said at a press conference in the Parliament lobby today.

Idris, who is also the Second Education Minister said there is no need for PAS to contest in the upcoming by election as BN had won big majorities in the area during the 13th general election.

"It is hardly two months since the general election and we (BN) had won big by 2,434 votes. It is not child's play. Big votes!"

"Voters usually do not experience a change of heart in over a month. It is not easy to change the mindsets of the locals," he said.

A very confident Idris also said that he is confident of BN's win in Kuala Besut with at least 4,000 vote majority, adding that it is impossible for PAS to field a suitable candidate to topple
BN in a such a short span of time.

"Pas does not know how to find a suitable candidate, they have a problem with that," he said.
Both BN and PAS will announce their chosen candidates tomorrow.
