The coins will be available in three denominations: a gold commemorative coin (proof), a sterling silver commemorative coin (proof), and a Nordic gold brilliant uncirculated (BU) commemorative coin, the central bank announced.
The gold commemorative coin is composed of 999.9-purity gold and weighs 8 grams. It has a face value of RM100 and will be sold at RM3,250 each, with a limited mintage of 300 pieces.
The sterling silver commemorative coin consists of 92.5-purity sterling silver and weighs 31 grams. It has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM275 each, with a mintage of 1,300 pieces.
The Nordic gold commemorative coin is made of copper and other metals, weighing 8.5 grams. It has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM16.50 each, with a total mintage of 5,000 pieces.
"The commemorative coins are also available for purchase in a set of two, comprising one sterling silver (proof) coin and one Nordic gold (proof) coin. Each set is priced at RM330, with a total of 1,300 sets available," it said in a statement.
To ensure fair access to these limited-edition coins, each person is limited to one set of two, one gold (proof) coin, one sterling silver (proof) coin, and up to five Nordic gold BU coins.
The public can place orders at duit.bnm.gov.my from 11 am today until 11 pm on Oct 13, 2024.
"The public is advised to place their orders through BNM's online system and not with or through any other party.
"All orders will be considered, and no preference will be given to orders based on the order date and time. In the event of oversubscription, balloting will take place," BNM added.
