KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery (BNM MAG) has embarked on a virtual platform to showcase its exhibitions and museum education.

BNM's Hospitality and Museum Department acting director Noreen Zulkepli said this new norm has provided opportunities to explore new and innovative forms of engagement.

"BNM MAG is among the earliest museums in the country to digitalise its exhibitions and educational programmes, which have been available online for a while now," she said in a statement today.

Hence, she said since the beginning of the year, BNM MAG has launched virtually three new exhibitions and an art bazaar as well as numerous online programmes and e-competitions.

She said the three exhibitions are "Works on Metal: Art Inside the Wallet" on the website www.museum.bnm.gov.my/wom that showcased the rich history behind these coins, "Scarcity: A Matter of Priority" (www.museum.bnm.gov.my/scarcity) that explore the climate issue and "Keringat: Tales of our Forefathers" (www.museum.bnm.gov.my/forefathers) that illustrated the chronology of events which shaped the Malaysian socio-economic development through a range of impressive artworks.

"The Works on Metal, Scarcity and Keringat will be a part of BNM MAG's permanent virtual exhibitions. The general public can expect more exciting virtual exhibitions, programmes and competitions from BNM MAG in the coming months," she said.

She added that the public is welcomed to share their thoughts on new topics or ideas that could be featured on BNM MAG platforms via email at [email protected].
