Body of construction worker found in Sungai Semantan

A construction worker, who drowned in Sungai Semantan in Kampung Lompat near here yesterday while fishing with his friend, was found this morning.

A team of rescuers found the body Mohd Khairul Mohd Zain, 32, not far from where he had slipped and fallen into the river.

Temerloh acting police chief, Supt Zundin Mahmood, said the victim and his friend were said to have waded into the river to fix a fishing net.

The victim was apparently stringing the net about 50 metres from his friend, who realised he was missing after awhile, and immediately reported the matter, he said.
