Body of drowned teen found at Tanjung Aru beach

The body of a teenage boy who drowned while bathing off Tanjung Aru Beach here yesterday was found washed up on the beach today.

Kota Kinabalu Police chief ACP M. Chandra said the body of Mohd Khairul Firdaus Lamasin, 17, was found at about 6.30am by several tourists jogging on the beach.

"The body was found about a kilometre from where Mohd Khairul was reported to have gone missing," he said in a statement.

Mohd Khairul, who was a Form Five student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kinarut, was reported missing while swimming with a sibling off the beach at about 12.30pm and the police launched a search-and-rescue operation. -- Bernama
