The body of an Indonesian woman whose neck was slit was found in a dormitory at Kampung Paya, Jalan Raja Uda.
The body of the woman, known only as Tina, in her 40s, was found in a bedroom of the dormitory at about 3.50pm but no identification documents were found.
Seberang Perai Utara District Police Chief ACP Azmi Adam said the woman who had started working two months ago as a shop assistant was said to have lived with her boyfriend, a Bangladesh national, at the dormitory.
"There were two slash wounds on her neck, believed to have been caused by a sharp object," he told reporters at the scene, here today adding that police were now tracking down a Bangladesh national in his 30s, who was a construction worker, to assist investigations.
Azmi said based on initial investigations, police believe the woman was killed in the room five hours before her body was found.
He said following the incident, police detained three Bangladesh men, aged between 20 and 30, who were also renting at the dormitory and who worked with the suspect.
Azmi who urged the public with information about the suspect to contact the nearest police station said the woman's body was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.
