A worker clearing rubbish found the body of a man in a luggage bag at the refuse trap across the Klang River near Jalan Harper here last Saturday, police said Tuesday.
Klang Utara Police chief ACP Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the legs of the unidentified man, in his 50s, were tied together with nylon rope.
The Indonesian worker, in his 30s, was clearing rubbish at the trap at about 8.30pm when he spotted the Polo bag with the body floating in the river, he said.
"The man, clad in a chequered short-sleeved shirt, a knee-length short pants and a black belt, was 168cm tall with grey hair and dentures and had an asthma respirator in the left trouser pocket," he told a press conference here.
He had an Oris watch on the left hand and a magnetic bangle on the right, he said.
Mohd Yusoff said police suspected that the man was killed elsewhere and the body dumped into the river as there were injuries indicating he had been hit on the head.
He also said that the man had been probably murdered two to four weeks ago, going by the decomposition of the body.
Mohd Yusoff appealed to members of the public who had information on the case or missing relatives to contact the Klang Utara Police headquarters at 03-32902222 or the investigating offiver, ASP Chua Hang Loun, at 019-3193193.
He said the body had been sent to the Shah Alam Hospital. -- BERNAMA
