Body of man with gunshot wounds found in car

Police found the body of a man with gunshot wounds in the head slumped in the back seat of a car at Jalan Gula, Simpang Empat, Semanggol here early Friday.

Kerian Police chief Supt Mat Fauzi Nayan said they spotted the body in a Proton Waja car after being informed at 2.30 am by members of the public who found the vehicle under suspicious circumstances near an oil palm plantation.

Two 9mm pistol bullet casings were recovered from the back seat of the vehicle which had the Penang registration number of a car reported stolen in Puchong, Selangor, last year, he said.

A zipped clothes bag and a transparent plastic packet believed to contain syabu were also recovered from the car, he added.

Mat Fauzi said the identity of the dead man could not be established as there were no identification papers on the body.
