The body of a businessman believed to have been kidnapped on Sept 28 was discovered by members of the public in a jungle near Jalan Bukit Impian, Taman Impian Emas, near here on Sunday.
Johor Baharu Utara district acting police chief Supt Beh Eng Lai said the body of Cheung Zi Hong, 22, was found at 2.40pm and was sent to the nearest hospital.
"The post-mortem showed that Cheung was murdered and a DNA test confirmed that the deceased was the reported abducted victim," he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.
Following the discovery of Cheung's body, police arrested several suspects at their home in several locations including in Kota Tinggi yesterday to facilitate investigations, he said.
Beh said a white Audi TT belonging to Cheung which was reported missing on the same day the victim was abducted, was also discovered in Taman Perling, here on Sunday.
Beh said the victim had earlier contacted his friend on Sept 28 to inform that he had been abducted and asked his friend to arrange for RM50,000 for his ransom.
