The body of a fisherman, who went missing six days ago after the trawler carrying him and three others collided with a merchant ship, was found Sunday afternoon.
Kuala Kedah Base Maritime director Lt Commander Ahmad Kamal Mohd Noor said the body was found floating by fishermen about 56 nautical miles from Kuala Kedah at 2.10pm.
"After receiving the report, the Malaysian Marine Enforcement Agency (MMEA) sent the boat Penggalang to the location and brought the body back to Kuala Kedah jetty," he told reporters at Kuala Kedah jetty here.
He said upon arrival, the boat owner and his co-workers were asked to identify the body, which was confirmed as Ekkachai Sutprasoet, 30.
The body was later handed over to the police before being sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for post mortem.
On Tuesday, two men were rescued, one died and another went missing after their boat sank when it collided with a merchant ship 35 nautical miles west of Kuala Muda. - BERNAMA
