Police have confirmed that the body found in a green suitcase in Jalan Kebun Nenas here on Tuesday night belonged to Ng Yuk Tim, a 15-year-old girl who went missing on Monday night, The Star Online reported.
A 23-year-old male suspect had confessed to murdering the victim and later led police to the body, Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said.
The suspect was brought in to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 6.30pm.
"He led police to a body which was in a suitcase at the side of the road near a curb," the portal quoted Abdul Rahim as saying.
The portal reported that Ng Yuk Tim had left her home at 11am Monday to go to the suspect's house in Kelana Jaya to work on costumes for a cosplay event.
The suspect had initially claimed that he had dropped her off at the Kelana Jaya LRT station around 3.30pm, but later confessed to murdering her when he was interrogated by a crime watcher.
He claimed he tried to rape the victim before hitting her with a dumbbell, the portal said.
