The police are in the midst of tracking down a former tenant of a house in Kepong here to facilitate investigations into the murder of a boy whose decomposed body was found cemented at the premises.
The victim, aged between eight and 10, was found buried under a new layer of cement in the kitchen of the terrace house in Taman Usaha Jaya on Friday.
On Friday, a contractor was about to begin renovation works at the house when he detected a stench emanating from the kitchen about 11am.
Upon checking, he stumbled on the body wrapped in cloth. The body was sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Gombak police chief ACP Ali Ahmad believed the former tenant, Loo Chon Wen, 33, was still in the country although he might not be in the Klang Valley.
He urged the tenant who stayed at the house with his wife and three children, including a daughter, to contact the nearest police station to facilitate investigations.
"Initial investigations revealed the Loo family was renting the house since last year and vacated the house last month without informing the house owner, Ng Ah Kau, 68.
"Ng had several times tried in vain to contact Loo who did not pay the rent when he vacated the house," he told Bernama in a telephone interview Saturday.
