A 'Datuk's bodyguard was sentenced to death by hanging, by the High Court here today for murdering a mechanic almost three years ago.

Musa Yunus, 42, was found guilty by Justice Datuk Abdul Halim Aman, of stabbing R. Kumaran, 31, to death with a knife at the roadside in Selayang Baru near here at 2.30am on Dec 23, 2012.

In his judgement, Abdul Halim said Musa's defence that he did not know the victim and had not kicked or stabbed him was a mere denial.

The judge also dismissed Musa's defence about being drunk at the time of the incident and found the prosecution witnesses to be consistent in their testimonies.

Abdul Halim cited the testimony of the victim's wife who had witnessed from a distance of about 10 feet, the accused hitting the victim with his hand and stabbing him on the left chest with a knife.

He said the court found no reason to doubt the credibility of her testimony.

Deputy public prosecutor Rosidah Abu Bakar represented the prosecution while counsel Abdul Kadir Ismail defended Musa.
