Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has denied that he state government would be distributing ''Bonus Rakyat 1 Kedah'' (BR1K) of RM750 as disseminated through WhatsApp and social media recently.
Ahmad Bashah said he had been receiving many enquiries on the authenticity of message since it went viral, when in fact it was a hoax carried out by irresponsible parties.
"For me, it is a naughty message from people who have run out of ideas to attack the government administered so well by Barisan Nasional (BN) now," he said in a statement Friday.
The message stated that Ahmad Bashah had purportedly launched BR1K to assist residents of the state to celebrate Ramadan and it could be applied for online by Kedah residents aged between 16 and 55 years.
He said these irresponsible people were willing to use the holy month of Ramadan to carry out political attacks to tarnish his image and BN.
