The government will not compromise but remain firm in ensuring the country's borders and sovereignty are not infiltrated by illegal immigrants (PATI).
Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the monitoring of border controls including the 'rat lanes' continue to be tightened and intensified.
“What is alarming is the illegal immigrants are infiltrating through rat routes throughout the country.
"In fact, the authorities have identified all the rat lanes, both on the West Coast of the Peninsula as well as in Sabah besides land routes in Sarawak," he told a COVID-19 daily (non-health) media conference here today.
According to him, since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented, 84 individuals have been arrested for invading the country through 'rat lanes'.
In fact, he said, each security agency is now involved in tightening controls along the country's borders, especially the rat lanes to prevent illegal immigrants from penetrating the country's borders, thus bringing COVID-19 transmission into the country.
