Bridgestone sponsors local motorsport team

The World Solar Challenge is back for its 13th season and Bridgestone Corporation is proud to announce their support for the second year in a row. The WSC 2015 is an extreme endurance competition and the premier forum for electric vehicle technology that aims to promote innovative and sustainable practices in modern motoring.

Taking place from 18th to 25th October, the race will cover over 3000km from Darwin in the Northern Territory to Adelaide in South Australia. The race will be separated into three classes, the first class is known as the Adventure Class for pre-2015 event vehicles, the Cruiser Class where vehicles are designed for practicality and the elite Challenger Class where participants will compete in a time attack.

Bridgestone Malaysia will be lending their support to the sole Malaysian team, Eco Photon, by sponsoring 12 ECOPIA tyres with “ologic” technology. Eco Photon is made up of 26 members from University Technology MARA (UiTM), it is the team’s first attempt at the WSC and they are optimistic that their solar car, known as “Stingray” to them, would produce a good result.

The company is hoping to take the opportunity the competition would provide to showcase their ECOPIA range of tyres as their commitment to deliver products developed to reduce environmental impacts and fuel saving abilities.
