For some Opposition members, whatever that was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in Budget 2017 on Friday was nothing new.
The also expressed doubt if the Barisan Nasional-led government would be able to cover the country's debts, including 1Malaysia Development Berhad's (1MDB), amounting to billions of ringgit.
Below are the views of some of the Opposition MPs:
* PKR president and Permatang Pauh MP, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail:
"It has been several occasions now that the Prime Minister has 'evaded' from answering the issue on 1MDB during Budget tabling."
* Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president and Pagoh MP, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin:
"How is he (Najib) to settle all debts? It seems that what the government is offering (in the Budget) is too little, and the government has yet to explain how it will manage its debts, including 1MDB's."
* DAP Kluang MP , Liew Chin Tong:
"Company taxes will increase by nine percent and petroleum tax collection will rise by 24 percent, in an environment where petrol price is not necessarily stable. Companies won’t be able to make enough profit. The target is not optimistic and unrealistic."
* Parti Warisan Sabah president, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal:
"There's nothing new… Pan Borneo, Sabah, electricity and water supply, it's all been said before. To me, there's nothing new (in the Budget)."
* PKR vice president and Lembah Pantai MP, Nurul Izzah Anwar:
"Finally, there is a Socso (Social Security Organization) for taxi drivers. But Najib also urged the B40 group to become Uber drivers."
Akhirnya, diumum skim perkeso utk pemandu teksi. Tp @NajibRazak juga gesa gol #B40 mjadi pemandu #UBER #Bajet2017

* PKR vice president and Batu MP, Tian Chua:
"Instead of addressing the economic structural weaknesses, Najib used the Budget 2017 speech to do a feel-good act and mock his opponents."

* DAP Serdang MP, Ong Kian Ming:
"I feel bad for public university students and faculty, budgets cut again for second year in a row."
