Budget 2021: We support because of the people - Nazri Aziz

KUALA LUMPUR:The support of UMNO MPs for the 2021 Budget is simply because they care about the interests of the people, said Padang Rengas Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Nazri stressed that the support given by the UMNO MPs cannot be interpreted as supporting any individual.

"Passed because this Budget is a matter of the people's interest but after passing it, the political question is another matter.

"If there is an issue that has not been resolved, we shall continue to fight!" he told Astro AWANI.

The Supply Bill 2021 at the policy level has been passed by the Dewan Rakyat with more voices in support, earlier today.

The opposition's attempt to hold a division vote failed because it fell short of 15 people to support the proposal.

The 2021 Budget was presented by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz on Nov 6 and a total of 82 MPs participated in the debate which took place from Nov 9 to 19.

According to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun, debate at the committee level starts next Monday for 10 days before the division vote is held again.
