Bukit Jalil dengue outbreak, seven still receiving treatment

Seven individuals from the sporting fraternity who are believed to have contracted dengue in the Bukit Jalil Sports Complex area are still receiving treatment.
The Youth and Sports Ministry's Corporate Communications Unit and the National Sports Council (MSN) in a joint statement here Wednesday said four were new cases but all the patients were reported to be in stable condition.
The statment said a netball player, a cyclist and an MSN employee were receiving treatment while two footballers under the National Football Development Programme, at the Batu Pahat Hospital in Johor and the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, Perak.
A diver is receving treatment at the Kota Kinabalu Hospital, Sabah while a shuttler at the Penang Hospital in George Town.
The statement added that the Search and Destroy mission to eliminate dengue breeding grounds in the area was being intensified.
The outbreak has claimed the life of Mohd Nor Izuwan Mohd Ariffin, MSN's manager of the national Paralympic team, who lived at Vista MSN at the complex.
