Bullied senior citizen willing to forgive and forget

The senior citizen, who is alleged to have been bullied by a young woman driving a white Peugeot 208 in an incident here last Monday, is willing to forgive and forget.

In fact, Sim Siak Heong, 68, from Jalan Kubang Buaya here, said he was not even planning to lodge a police report against the woman's road rage behaviour.

"Besides, she has repeatedly apologised, so, I don't want to pursue the case. If I lodge a police report, I will not gain anything.

"Instead, she could face imprisonment for her wrongdoing. She is still young and she probably was not thinking about the consequences of her action that day," he told reporters here today.

Relating the incident, Sim said he was driving his car, with his wife sitting in the passenger seat, to get out of the Urban Transformation Centre's (UTC) parking lot before knocking the rear bumper of the Peugeot 208 driven by the woman.

"The woman then got out of her car, scolded and bad-mouthed me at the top of her lungs before coming over and took a steering lock from my car.

"Then, she used the steering lock to knock on the bonnet and window of my car, which was a gift from my son, and asked my to pay her a compensation of RM2,000 in cash.

"I told her I don't have that much money and I can only afford to give her RM200, but she was not satisfied. Eventually, we both just lodged a report about the accident at Kuantan traffic police headquarters," he said.

The accident was recorded by members of the public who were at the scene and was uploaded onto several social websites until the video lasting 2.33 minutes became viral and 'trending'.
