Amid the fiery debate surrounding the Prevention of Crime Act Bill today, a BN MP shared his own approach to criminals.
Kinabatangan parliamentarian Bung Mokhtar Radin revealed that he is a gun-totting lawmaker.
"We see the rise in planned murders, robberies... last time I don't like to bring a pistol, because heavy... but after the shootings there, killings here, I became firm in my stand," Bung told the Dewan Rakyat.
"Rather than dying from being shoot, I'd rather die in a shootout. So I bring it to defend myself," said Bung.
Bung said that security of everyone, regardless of political leanings, should be ensured.
In his argument for the PCA amendments, which is criticised for bringing back preventive law that allows for detention without trial, Bung also questioned why Pakatan Rakyat was against the law.
He went as far as to suggest that the Opposition may have links with underworld cartels.
However, while his comment drew laughter, the Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia warned MPs against bringing up political sentiments to "create chaos" in the august house.
Pandikar's comments were also directed at PAS MP Mohamed Hanipa Maidin (Sepang), who cited the Altantuya Shaariibuu case.
"If in the case of Altantuya, we can have a trial for the two alleged murderers why not for other cases? Why double standards?" said Hanipa, drawing jeers from BN MPs and cheers from Pakatan MPs.
