PASIR MAS: Less than 40 per cent of the 1,500 residents in three villages in Bunut Susu, here have undergone the first COVID-19 screening test as of yesterday following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (EMCO) in the subdistrict starting tomorrow until May 22.
Kelantan Health Department (JKNK) director Datuk Zaini Hussin said the department would try to complete the screening as soon as possible.
"The EMCO period is for two weeks and if it (COVID-19 screening) does not reach 100 per cent, it is possible that the EMCO will be extended, but if we can cover everything early, then we will end the EMCO early," he said when contacted, here today.
Yesterday, the government announced the enforcement of the EMCO in three villages namely Kampung Paya Ular, Kampung Tualang, and Kampung Bechah Palas in Bunut Susu following the sudden surge of cases and a high number of positive infection rate in the villages.
Meanwhile, Pasir Mas Member of Parliament Ahmad Fadhli Shaari urged the villagers to cooperate with all quarters especially the Ministry of Health (MOH) and undergo the COVID-19 screening tests immediately to ease the process.

"If the screening test process is delayed, we are worried that the EMCO will be extended," he said when met after presenting 80 packs of food supplies to residents from the B40 group in Kampung Paya Ular affected by the implementation of the EMCO.
Ahmad Fadhli said the Pasir Mas parliamentary office would allocate about RM200,000 to help the affected residents, particularly from the B40 segment adding they would also request additional assistance from the Federal government.
