Burglars flee with RM100,000
Burglars broke into the home of Permatang Pauh Umno Youth chief in Kampung Tanjung Putus, Permatang Pasir and escaped with valuables worth over RM100,000.
Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said, 43, said the break-in was discovered by his father Mohd Said Abdul Hamid, 70, who checked his house at 6am on Sunday as he was away attending the Umno general assembly in Kuala Lumpur.
"My father found the back door open and saw that all the rooms had been ransacked by burglars," he said when met at his house on Sunday.
After being informed of the break-in, he rushed home and found that a safe containing jewellery, three gold bars weighing 750 grammes, three laptops, land titles, various documents and a Honda motorcycle missing. Losses incurred were estimated at more than RM100,000.
Mohd Zaidi who immediately lodged a police report said the burglars left footprints inside the house and a pair of shoes outside.
He and his wife Santanina Salleh, 41 hope that police could track down the burglars because they lost many valuable items in the break-in.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman when contacted confirmed the break-in and said that investigation is in progress.
