The burnt body of a teenage girl of Indian nationality was found in a burnt car at Jalan Changkat Hartamas 2, Hartamas Heights, here, early today, according to police.
The body was found at 4.22 am in the car, a Hyundai, in front of the house of the girl's aunt, said Sentul Police chief ACP R. Munusamy.
He said the last time the aunt saw the 18-year-old girl was at 12.30 am when she was lying down in the bedroom after having taken her medication.
The girl had been studying on her own at the house since 2015, he said, adding that the body had been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Munusamy said the police were waiting for the post-mortem report to determine if any criminal element was involved or if it was an accident.
"A police forensics team scoured the area but did not find anything that could be linked to the case," he said in a statement.
