Overall sentiment, however, remained fragile amid weak cues from Wall Street.
At 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was down 2.69 points at 1,599.19, from Wednesday's close of 1,601.88.
The benchmark index opened 10.82 points lower at 1,591.06.
Heavyweights Axiata and YTL Power gained seven sen each to RM2.33 and RM3.18, respectively, while SD Guthrie was nine sen higher at RM4.69 and Petronas Gas added 28 sen to RM17.56.
Tenaga Nasional was the main laggard, losing 20 sen to RM13.84, followed by CIMB, which declined seven sen to RM7.92.
Among active counters, Classita rose half-a-sen to 4.0 sen, Bina Puri slid one sen to 35 sen, Top Glove was flat at RM1.07, Eversendai added 1.5 sen to 55.5 sen and MyEG increased one sen to 84.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index declined 6.35 points to 12,096.88, the FBMT 100 Index fell 2.90 points to 11,811.20, and the FBM ACE Index edged down 33.67 points to 4,971.98.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index recovered 11.57 points to 12,073.73 and the FBM 70 Index rebounded 58.37 points to 17,661.24.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index dropped 118.77 points to 18,967.91 and the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 1.06 points to 173.11.
The Energy Index gained 8.15 points to 843.40 and the Plantation Index was up 51.26 points to 7,305.03
