A bus driver was killed while seven passengers were hurt when a bus crashed into the back of a trailer at 383.2 km, North-South Expressway (south bound), near Behrang lay-by, early today.
Nurul Yatimi Mohamed Noor, 25, who died on the spot, was taken to Slim River Hospital while the seven passengers hurt, comprising of three male and four female, were taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Slim River Fire and Rescue Operations chief, Mohd Rosli Ibrahim said the incident happened at 2.51 am when the bus with 27 passengers was traveling from from Hatyai, Thailand to Johor Bahru.
"The bus driver who was pinned to his seat was confirmed dead on the spot by hospital staff while the second driver, Mohd Rokdi Ahmad, 46, and 20 passengers escaped unhurt," he said when contacted by Bernama, today.
Mohd Rosli said the 20 passengers were taken to Johor Bahru on another bus.
Six firemen with the help of policemen and members of the public took about 30 minutes to extricate the body from the wreckage.
