A businessman cheated death after being shot at several times by two men in front of his house at Taman Seri Fajar, near Batu Pahat, Monday night.
Batu Pahat Police chief ACP Abdul Wahib Musa said the incident occurred around 10pm after the businessman, known only as Cheng, 40, and his helper closed and left his minimarket in Semerah, for the day.
“The victim and his helper were travelling in a Mitsubishi Triton and were believed to have been trailed by the two men in a Perodua Myvi car.
“As they reached home, one of the two men suddenly fired several shots at the victim who was still in his car,” he told Bernama when contacted here on Tuesday.
Abdul Wahib said Cheng, however, managed to reverse his car causing it to crash into the assailants’ car.
Shocked by the impact of the crash, the two men quickly fled the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
