Businessman gunned down by hired killer

After a strenuous game of badminton, a businessman went for a hearty meal at a restaurant in Kajang last night, It turned out to be R. Applasamy's last supper.
A man wearing a full-faced helmet cooly walked into the restaurant and shot dead the 47-year-old at point-blank range in the presence of horrified patrons.
Applasamy, whose company supplied canopies to clients over the past two decades, died on the spot.
The body of the victim who sustained a gunshot wound each in the face and chest was sent to the Serdang Hospital.
Selangor police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said, following the 10.30pm incident, the killer escaped by riding pillion on a motorcycle near the restaurant.
It is learnt the police were investigating several motives behind the killing, including the deployment of hired killers to erase business rivalries.
Meanwhile, Kajang police chief ACP Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said initial investigations revealed that two people were linked to Applasamy's murder.
