KUALA LUMPUR: The Unity Government Cabinet ministers who were announced today are determined to provide the best service to Malaysia and her people.
Kota Tinggi MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said his appointment as Higher Education Minister was an honour bestowed upon him by the Unity Government.
The UMNO vice-president said it represented a big task for him to ensure that the ministry would return to full function to face a new era of varied challenges.
Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who is the new Works Minister, meanwhile provided guarantees that he would continue the previous ministry policies, in addition to improving those that could benefit the country.
He added that he was determined to give his full commitment and effort to ensure the smooth running of the country's administration based on his capacity in the ministry.
"I would like to stress that I'm a minister for all, not just for Sarawakians, so I will ensure every effort and initiative undertaken by this ministry will benefit all Malaysians, including those in Sabah dan Sarawak," he said in a statement last night.
The Kapit MP from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) viewed his appointment as an important responsibility to help the Unity Government continue efforts to rejuvenate the country's economy, especially in light of a challenging 2023.
He also urged Malaysians to set aside their differences and come together and focus on efforts to bring the country to greater heights.
Meanwhile, Nga Kor Ming, who was named as Local Government Minister, said Malaysians and the government must stand united and work as a strong team and put national interest above self.
"I am truly humbled, grateful and honoured to be appointed as a Cabinet minister to serve our beloved nation. There is so much for us to accomplish and I welcome all learned advise and guidance so we can work together to restore the glory for our nation," the Teluk Intan MP told Bernama via WhatsApp.
