Cadbury to review its supply chain for quality assurance

Cadbury will be undertaking a full review of its supply chain to ensure all quality standards continue to be met.

The chocolate company stated this in response to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) investigations which found traces of pig DNA (porcine) in two of its chocolate samples :

1) Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut with the batch number 200813M01H I2 and expiry date November 13, 2014; and

2) Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond with the batch number 221013N01R I1 and expiry date January 15, 2015.

The chocolate company has also recalled these products and confirmed that not other chocolates were affected by this test.

“We would like to reassure our consumers that all Cadbury Chocolates manufactured in Malaysia are halal-certified by JAKIM, which includes the locations and raw materials used in the production of these product,” stated Cadbury in a press statement today.

According to Cadbury they also adhere to stringent quality procedures to ensure that their products are of the highest standard of safety and quality.

Meanwhile, the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has suspended the the halal certification for the two products effective immediately and assured the public that all other products with the halal logo are certified.

Further investigations will also be done to identify the cause of the contamination to the two products.
